Beachamwell Walking Weekend
5 – 6 April 2014
- Guided walks
On both Saturday and Sunday participants in the Connecting Threads project will lead walks around Beachamwell sharing what they have learned about the local history and landscape. Walks start at 10am (5 miles); 10.30am (2.5 miles); 2pm (1 mile easy stroll).
Meet at Beachamwell Memorial Village Hall, The Green, PE37 8BB
Free. Just turn up. Dogs on leads please.
- Launch of new Beachamwell Footpath Map
To celebrate Connecting Threads a new leaflet map has been produced showing the complete parish footpath network. Copies are free and will be available to pick up during the weekend.
- Exhibition and Displays
Saturday & Sunday 10am – 4pm. Beachamwell Memorial Village Hall, The Green, PE37 8BB
A chance to see the results of research into the history of local paths, and records of wildlife observed. A special display will have photographs chosen by popular vote, and there will be video featuring memories of local residents. Also on display will be the Connecting Threads Quilt – a textile wall hanging made by local people to commemorate the project.
Free. Light refreshments available.
- Mark Cocker ‘Meet the Neighbours’ Saturday 5 April, 7.30pm. Beachamwell Memorial Village Hall, The Green, PE37 8BB
Author, naturalist and environmental activist Mark Cocker gives a presentation on the many living creatures and plants that are all around us and which we often fail to notice. Mark Cocker is one of our foremost writers on nature. His acclaimed books include Crow Country (“fabulous”) and Birds and People (“uniquely beautiful and engrossing”).
